Shy Guy's Guide To Dating

Top Ten Worst Pick Up Lines

  1. What's your sign? (Too seventies. Likewise, "Read any good books lately?"--it may have worked on The Love Boat, but these are more sophisticated times we live in!)

  2. Do you come here often? (Too closely associated with pickup artists. Often a girl will ask you this question, because she wants to determine if you cruise bars a lot. Be very careful answering this question. A girl doesn't really want to hear, "Oh yeah, I'm here every Friday and Saturday night!" They prefer to hear, "I hardly ever go to clubs.")

  3. Would you like to dance? (Most girls have no interest in dancing with strangers. Unless you're a phenomenal dancer, you're best bet is to get to know her first and then wait until much later in the evening before asking her to dance.)

  4. I've been watching you all night and I'd really like to get to know you. (Too stalkerish; you don't want to scare the girl away before you've even met her.)

  5. My friend thinks you're really cute and wants to meet you. (Girls hate this line, because it implies that a] you're friend is a coward, and b] you have no interest in her yourself.)

  6. Will you marry me? (Too cutesy for an opening line; only works on TV.)

  7. If I told you you had a beautiful body, would you hold it against me? (Too Benny Hill.)

  8. You must be awful tired, because you were running through my dreams all night. (Sounds too much like you were masturbating over her.)

  9. You must be a thief, because you stole my heart. (Too corny.)

  10. You look just like Cindy Crawford (or some other celebrity.)

(Girls hate being compared to celebrities! If they do look like the celebrity, chances are, they've heard it a million times before, and they're sick of hearing it!)
